I learned to sail when I was a teenager in Israel. I started windsurfing and then my father build a sailboat and I was able to share the love of sailing with friends and family. Over the years I went on sailing trips in the mediterranean, the Caribbean islands and the Chesapeake Bay.
This painting happened when I was experimenting with different watercolor techniques and a happy mistake made the dark cloud in the sky. This brought memories of tense moments when a sudden change in the weather would bring about strong gusts of wind and rough waters that would make the sailboat keels over.
I tried to recreate these moments when I felt so small compare to the forces of nature; the sail boat is at mercy of the elements gliding fast in the water leaving a deep wake and spray behind her.
